In accordance with ISO 14064-3 and ISO 14065 standards, PES Carbon experts provide independent validation and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for any company or industry.

An organization may pursue GHG emissions validation and verification for several reasons, including to contribute to their annual sustainability reporting, to inform their customers about their environmental efforts, to satisfy regulatory or investor reporting requirements, or to publicly disclose their emission reduction successes. Those declarations must always be backed up by an impartial third party. Therefore, organizations look for third-party validation to make sure their GHG emissions inventory complies with the guidelines, standards, and regulations for reporting and inventory. Regulations governing the accuracy of carbon accounting, emissions factors, computations, and disclosure are always evolving, and PES can make sure your organization’s GHG emissions data is appropriately keeping up with the latest standards.

The following steps describe the general process for GHG emissions verification.

• Examine the information that was initially provided and create new information requests.
• Create a verification plan based on the objectives, importance, and project boundaries.
• Lead interviews with important organization stakeholders during the kick-off meeting.
• Examine the management, accuracy, consistency, completeness, and quality of the organization's sustainability statistics.
• Create a comments journal listing observations, remedial action, and information requests.
• Create and publish an opinion on GHG emissions.
• In accordance with the assurance standard, create and publish an independent assurance statement.
• Receive appeals and reconsider if any.

PES can perform Verification & Validation for Organizations reporting as per ISO 14064-1 and to Project Activities reporting as per ISO 14064-2, for Scope 1, 2 and 3 of GHG emissions.
